Student Council

The Student Council at the Centre of African Studies was founded by students in 2009. The Student Council consists of all students, who are enrolled at the Centre of African Studies and all students are therefore automatically members of the students' council. Every year in September, the students elect a board that commits itself to the work of the Student Council. The board consists of a chairman, an assisting chairman and a cashier, who are also members of the study board. All  students at CAS are invited to the meetings, which gives students the opportunity of influencing their study programme and their study environment at CAS.

The Student Council meets three to four times a year to discuss any matters of importance. The discussion may either take place in a very formal meeting as well as informal conversations between classes. The Student Council's role emphasises the social surroundings and gives students the opportunity to voice their opinions.
